WeCompose is an action-research project that I have developed with Music in the Round since 2023 which bridges the gap between Year 9 and Year 10 composition. We match classroom teachers and their students to professional composers and musicians, supporting 100s of young people across the UK write for their first live ensemble, supported by our project resources and teacher and composer training. Knowledge is developed each year through participant observation and student/ teacher surveys, which is used to develop the project iteratively.
